S’il s’impose avec sa nouvelle KTM RC16, Jack Miller sera le premier pilote à avoir gagné en MotoGP avec trois constructeurs différents. De même que Maverick Viñales s’il y parvient avec l’Aprilia RS-GP.
Peut-on remporter des Grands Prix en MotoGP avec trois constructeurs différents ? Valentino Rossi et Jorge Lorenzo ont essayé, sans succès – le premier n’a pas réussi avec Ducati, le second avec Honda. Ils sont parmi les exemples les plus récents, avec Andrea Dovizioso qui s’est imposé avec Honda et Ducati, mais pas Yamaha. Deux hommes peuvent cependant y parvenir en 2023 : Maverick Viñales et Jack Miller.
Premier à faire triompher la Suzuki GSX-RR en 2016 (Silverstone, Grand Prix de Grande-Bretagne), Maverick Viñales est ensuite devenu pilote Yamaha l’année suivante, et s’est imposé dès sa première course sur la YZR-M1 (Losail, Grand Prix du Qatar). Il fait aujourd’hui partie des sept pilotes MotoGP qui ont remporté un Grand Prix avec deux constructeurs différents. S’y trouve également Jack Miller, monté sur la plus haute marche avec Honda en 2016 (Assen, Grand Prix des Pays-Bas) avant d’y parvenir avec Ducati en 2021 (Jerez, Grand Prix d’Espagne).
Les deux concurrents sont aujourd’hui en lice pour devenir le premier pilote MotoGP à gagner avec trois marques de suite. Maverick Viñales peut le faire depuis qu’il a rejoint Aprilia en septembre 2021. Deux podiums ont pour le moment été obtenus par l’Espagnol sur la RS-GP. Quant à Jack Miller, ce sera possible à partir de sa première épreuve avec la KTM RC16, le Grand Prix du Portugal, à partir du 26 mars.

Both Miller and Viñales have shown their skill and potential in MotoGP. Winning the championship in 2023 would not only mark a minecraftle personal milestone but also make history, especially if it’s a first-time championship win for either rider.
